Stuck on what to type into ChatGPT, Midjourney or Gemini? The Random AI Prompt Generator hands you a fresh, ready-made prompt to paste in. There is nothing to describe and no AI writing a prompt for you: pick a prompt type and a category, press the button, and a list of finished prompts appears. It's free, there's no sign-up, and you can press the button as often as you like.
Every prompt is put together from parts we wrote and checked by hand, so each one reads like something a person would actually type. The prompts are family friendly. They leave out violence and anything scary, and they never name a real person, an artist or a brand, so they are fine to use at school.
Choose a prompt type, then a category, or leave the category on Any for a mix. The Detail menu switches between short prompts and detailed ones. Press Generate AI Prompts to get from 1 to 100 prompts at a time. Every prompt has its own Copy button, and Copy all under the list copies every prompt at once, with a blank line between them. The arrows next to the button bring back a list you skipped past, and Reset Options puts every menu back the way it started.
ChatGPT prompts are questions and tasks you can paste into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other chat assistant. Many of them are just for fun: design a theme park, plan a pretend trip to the Moon, play twenty questions or hear your messy room described like a nature documentary. Others help you learn something new, plan a trip, brainstorm ideas, study for a test or sort out everyday jobs. A detailed ChatGPT prompt adds two lines that tell the assistant how to answer.
AI image prompts are for tools that make pictures, such as Midjourney, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion, Gemini and ChatGPT. Each one names a subject and a scene that fit together, a style and the light, and the detailed version adds the colors, the framing and the mood. Pick a category like Fantasy, Animals, Food or Cute to stay on one theme.
AI video prompts describe a short clip for video tools that work from a text description: what moves, how the camera moves and the light, and in the detailed version the style and the pace too.
We are always trying to make our generators better. If there's a category you would like to see, or you have an idea that would improve this tool, please use the Submit feedback link at the bottom of the page to let us know. This generator exists because a visitor asked for it.
An AI prompt is the instruction you give an AI tool. For an image tool, it describes the picture you want: the subject, the setting, the style and the light. For ChatGPT or another chat assistant, it is a question or a task, like "Explain how volcanoes form as if I were 10 years old." The clearer the prompt, the closer the result is to what you had in mind.
Press Copy next to a prompt and paste it where you would normally type. In ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, that is the message box. In Midjourney, paste it into the prompt bar on the website, or after /imagine on Discord. Image prompts also work in DALL-E, Stable Diffusion and the image features of ChatGPT and Gemini. AI video prompts work in video tools that make a clip from a text description.
Yes. The generator is free, there is nothing to sign up for, and you can use the prompts for anything you like, from class projects to your own artwork. Each AI tool has its own rules for what you can do with the pictures and text it makes, so check those for the tool you use.
Start with one of these prompts and make it yours. Swap the subject for something you care about, add one or two details you can picture clearly, and say what you don't want. For an image, name the style, the light and the framing. For a ChatGPT prompt, say who the answer is for and how long it should be. If a result is close but not quite right, keep the prompt and change one part at a time.
An AI image prompt describes a picture, so it is full of things you can see: a subject, a place, a style, the light, the colors and the camera angle. A ChatGPT prompt asks a question or gives a task, so it says what you want to know or do and how you want the answer. An AI video prompt is like an image prompt with movement added: what moves, how the camera moves and how long the clip is.
Yes. Every part of every prompt was written for this page and checked against our list of words that are not family friendly. The prompts leave out violence, scary content, romance, alcohol and anything like them, and they never name a real person, an artist, a brand or a character from a movie or game.
More than 600,000 short AI image prompts, more than 40,000 short AI video prompts and more than 1,400 ChatGPT prompts, built from 340 ChatGPT prompts we wrote by hand. The detailed versions add millions more. You'll never get the same prompt twice in one list.
